At 14 months of age your puppy is more than capable of being reliably housebroken. In fact I really think we owe it to our dogs to train them to be responsible members of our families.
Here is the “down and dirty” things to get started on today:
- Properly crate train your dog. This way he is controlled when you are unable to watch him 100% of the time. When he is loose in the house you must be able to watch him closely to stop the accidents.
- When you catch him in the act, you must immediately say “NO!” and get him outside. When he finishes his duty, give plenty of praise.
- You have to be firm and consistent, especially at the age that your dog is today.
