My Dogs Eats Grass and Mulch
Question: I have 2 toy poodles one 7 months and one 8 months. They love to eat mulch from my flower garden and various grasses and crap in the yard. Will they outgrow this? - from Pat

It is not uncommon for dogs to like to eat grass. Many dogs will actually eat grass until they vomit when they have a stomach ache. It must be some type of natural cure they figured out.
If they are damaging your garden areas, the best thing to do is simply begin training them that chewing on your plants is not the proper behaviour. This means you will need to be outside whenever they are, and be consistent in your correction.
Since your dogs like to eat planst and grass, you do need to take a few extra precautions when you garden.
- Try to use only non-toxic preparations for fertilizing and weed control. Evein if the product is labeled “safe for pets” be sure and read the full label to understand exactly what this means.
- Be sure that when you apply chemicals to the garden, none is allowed to drift into water or food bowels that may be outside.
