My Dog Keeps Eating Paper

We encourage you to share your "dog wisdom" - Please Feel FREE to Help Answer this Dog Question!!Answer: Every puppy I have ever known liked to chew on paper - it is mostly the puppy in him. What you need to do is redirect his attention and train him that paper is not appropriate to chew on.
When you catch him eating paper, simply say “Rover, NO! Find your chew toy!” then give him a chew toy. Once he shows the slightest interest in his toy offer him praise and reward.
Over time, with you being consistent at catching him in the act, he will learn that eating paper is not appropriate, but chewing on his toy is.
During this training period, you will also need to be diligent at keeping your house puppy proof. Keep all the paper out of reach, and the bathroom doors closed.
